Whats worse: making someone uncomfortable about exercising their personal choice to eat animals or throwing the survival of future generations into peril so that people can continue to enjoy their bacon and cheese? I am so tired of this attitude that its worse to speak up than to protect the animals, the planet and future generations. I know from observation that you can honestly discuss this topic as carefully and as diplomatically as possible and many people will still be offended and insulted. Screw that. People need to hear this message and they need to change if humanity is going to survive our own rapacious demand for animal flesh and products. That said, we are here to help anyone on their path to getting animals off their plates. We all started somewhere. We just need to stop treating this like a subject we have to dance around, wake up, and take action. Preventing catastrophic warming is dependent on tackling meat and dairy consumption, but the world is doing very little,” said Rob Bailey, the report’s lead author. “A lot is being done on deforestation and transport, but there is a huge gap on the livestock sector. There is a deep reluctance to engage because of the received wisdom that it is not the place of governments or civil society to intrude into people’s lives and tell them what to eat.” The report builds on recent scientific studies which show that soaring meat demand in China and elsewhere could tip the world’s climate into chaos. Emissions from livestock, largely from burping cows and sheep and their manure, currently make up almost 15% of global emissions. Beef and dairy alone make up 65% of all livestock emissions. theguardian/environment/2014/dec/03/eating-less-meat-curb-climate-change
