Whats wrong with music nowadays? Well, that really simple. GREED. Tell me this, if youre a artist who still believes your work to be important (and what artist doesnt?) you want your audience to continue to grow and be multi generational. The problem here is that years ago even the poorest kids could scrape together enough dough to see a concert. I saw Hendrix, Joplin, The Who, Rolling Stones, and many many bands for less than $5. I remember being pissed that the Stones had gone to $10 a few years later. So now artists are asking $100+ and $200+ per seat? And that just face value. The scalpers (helped by ticket agencys) double or triple that. So thats Rock & Roll huh? Making it that only the upper classes and middle age can afford to see you? You think a High School kid who just happens run across his parents old Fleetwood Mac or Eagles records and becomes infatuated with them has $270 lying around to pay for a single seat? Thats $540 if he takes a date. Stevie Nicks has an estimated worth of $75 million. Don Henley and Glen Frey? Estimated $200 million each. Neil Diamonds estimated worth is $175 million. Barbara Streisand? $340 million. Taylor Swift is already in the $200 million club. Jimmy Buffett is worth $400 million . Tim McGraw & Faith Hill share about $140 million. Just plain ol folks yall! And yet, while having more money than their great grandchildren could spend (cocaine included) they continue to charge outlandish prices that keep new fans from seeing them live and becoming dedicated fans. I just saw CSN for $65 bucks. High in my thoughts, but damn reasonable compared to Eagles tix @ $250 (whove admitted openly to basing much of their concept on CSN) So my ultimate question to these Rebel-used -to-bes is.....How much damn money do you need anyway? Your insistence on having a pissing contest with each other of who can command the most bucks is greatly contributing to young listeners being pulled toward lesser acts just because they can afford to see them. And you letting the public dictate what they can spend is the exact type of bullshit most of you spent decades rallying against in song. The Eagles gave freakin WalMart exclusive sales to their last CD. Nice gesture to all those Mom & Pop records stores who for 40 years helped make you the richest band on the planet, assholes. Apparently many of the important artist no longer consider the fans as essential unless theyre in a upper salary job. Shame on you. Your riches were built on working class, pot smoking, blue jeaned, t shirt kids using their last few dollars from working a shitty job to come support you. And now you cater to white collar only and their over privileged offspring. Lets be honest, Hotel California was sold to Trump Enterprises a long time ago.
