Whats your best guess/diagnosis? A 10 year old Mare was recently evaluated by NEEMSC for a 6 month history of a cough. This cough was more significant while riding but also while at rest. It was not just at the beginning of work and seemed to be throughout. Wetting the hay did not seem to make a significant improvement. At rest, there was no significant changes while listening to the lungs and trachea. The horse has never had a fever. Diagnostics were performed on this mare and attached is a picture from upper airway endoscopy. The pictures shows the CARINA (bifurcation to the lungs) and you can see small amounts of mucous pooling ventrally. A BAL (bronchi-alveolar lavage) was performed on the farm and submitted for cytology. What are some possible causes for a chronic cough? **Check back tomorrow for the cytology results!**
