Whats your favorite thing about volunteering as an adaptive ski - TopicsExpress

Whats your favorite thing about volunteering as an adaptive ski instructor? Focusing on peoples abilities and possibilities—not their disabilities. We overcome all sorts of challenges to ensure these kids have fun and show them there is life beyond their disability. We enable their own freedom on the snow. My first kid was Justin, an 8-year-old with hemiparesis due to cerebral palsy. We taught him to ride a bi-ski. When he completed the whole run on tether, we couldnt hold him back. He was all smiles and giggles. These kids, whose bodies are in various stages of their diseases, are still kids! For me as an instructor, theres nothing more rewarding than asking a kid if they want to do another run and theres a resounding yes! The best part of this is to play with them and give them a break from the constant restrictions of their disabilities, to see them relax, smile, and laugh. What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a volunteer? Face your fears and live your dreams. #InspiredToMakeADifference
