Whats your preference for a character creation system? - Points-based: players initially have x points to spend across all aspects of the character. (Example: Mutants & Masterminds) - Points-based with limits: players initially have separate pools of points to spend in each aspect of the character - x points to spend on attributes, y points to spend on skills, z points to spend on powers. (Example: World of Darkness) - Character templates: players are given a base template for their starting character; some aspects may be customisable, but starting characters using the same template will generally share many abilities and other similarities. (Example: Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition) - Something else? Ive noticed that more and more games are going for a points-based system, with varying limits and conditions. Are there still any advantages to having a template/class system?
