WhatsApp Web was rolled out by the company earlier this week, giving you the opportunity to use the chat app on your PCs and Macs. This feature is not standalone and acts as a companion platform, therefore your phone and PC both needs to be always connected to the Internet. Apart from not being available for iPhone users and working only on Google Chrome, there are a couple of things missing from the web client. Here are the some of these: 1) You cannot change your name, profile picture For one you cannot change your name like you can on the app. If you are desperate to change it, you will have to fire up the app on your phone and do it there. That’s not the only limitation, and 2) You cannot change your profile photo either. You can see it and expand it, but you cannot change it. It would have been a welcome feature, since many people store their photos on their computers. 3) You cannot change your status Feeling like sharing your feelings with your WhatsApp buddies? You will again have to use the mobile app to do it, since WhatsApp Web doesn’t allow you to change your WhatsApp status. 4) You cannot change your chat settings or privacy Over the web, you cannot disable read receipts, last seen or decide who sees your status. 5)You cannot delete conversations, or email them like you can do on the app. Basically, the ‘chat settings’ and ‘privacy’ option on the app is absent on the web. 6)You cannot block people There is no option to block unwanted people. Often, WhatsApp users feel the need to block spammers and unwanted unknown users. The easily accessible feature on the app, is completely absent on the web client. 7)You cannot create or edit groupsIf you are an active WhatsApp user, you areinevitably a part of groups made by family, friends and colleagues. Proactive users who make the groups have the power to edit users in and out of the group. 9)On the web, you cannot create or edit groups. Furthermore, you cannot add or delete members, neither can you change the name of the group you’re in. All of that can only be done through whatsapp app.
