Whatsoever ye shall ask - This promise referred particularly to the apostles in their work of spreading the gospel; it is, however, true of all Christians, if what they ask is in faith, and according to the will of God, 1 John 5:fourteen King James Version (KJV) 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hearth us: 1 John 5:fifteen King James Version (KJV) 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. . In my name - This is equivalent to saying on my account, or for my sake. If a man who has money in a bank authorizes us to draw it, we are said to do it in his name. I had my graduation dollars on CD one point five decades, forgetting about it, and was amazed by its unknown growth! If a son authorizes us to apply to his father for aid because we are his friends, we do it in the name of the son, and the favor will be bestowed on us from the regard which the parent has to his son, and through him to all his friends. So we are permitted to apply to God in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, because God is in him well pleased Matthew 3:17New International Version (NIV) 17 And a voice from heaven said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. , and because we are the friends of his Son he answers our requests. Though we are undeserving, yet he loves us on account of his Son, and because he sees in us his image. No privilege is greater than that of approaching God in the name of his Son; no blessings of salvation can be conferred on any who do not come in his name. When I played football, I felt like I was representing the beloved coach. Christianity is similar. WE get tons of blessings for representing Jesus [Almighty] Christ Who is Lord and God rose from the dead. Fathers Day thirteen home of my first twenty-seven rejections—Winder, Georgia--I could tell rejecters were getting between Jesus [Almighty] Christ Who is Lord and God raised from the dead and myself. Then I turned to my sole study and was absolutely amazed how much more Spirituality rich my studies became. Too good for a piece of junk driver? Im history! That understanding began my high school sophomore year when I broke down seven days a week. Now, I see why the feeling overtook me. I couldnt date anybody in school when I turned sixteen. Therefore I only dated a freshman when I was a senior. https://facebook/1deezd/posts/564724470302428 I imagine our first glimpse of Heaven will cause us to gasp in amazement and delight. That first gasp will likely be followed by many more as we continually encounter new sights in that endlessly wonderful place. In Heaven, to look into Gods eyes will be to see what weve always longed to see: the person who made us for His own good pleasure. Seeing God will be like seeing everything else for the first time. Envy is one of the great enemies of active spirituality. It keeps us from loving our neighbors, from functioning with others in community, and from affirming peoples unique worth. It also steals contentment from the heart. Is there anything or anyone you are envious of? That will I do - Being exalted, he will be possessed of all power in heaven and earth Matthew 28:18, and he therefore could fulfill all their desires. That the Father may be glorified in the Son - See the notes at John 13:31New American Standard Bible (NASB) 31 Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus *said, Now [a]is the Son of Man glorified, and God [b]is glorified in Him; [-] Whatsoever ye shall ask in my name – To enable you to perform these miracles, and to convert souls, may be granted you. Besides, by going unto the Father, I shall receive the Holy Spirit, and send down his abundant influences into the hearts of those who believe. The timing is what counts! With two hundred ten detestable rejections, I obviously know all about the timing. If ye shall ask anything, These words are much, the same with the former, and have been thought, by some, to have crept into the text from the margin; though they seem rather to be repeated by Christ, the more to strengthen and confirm the faith of his disciples in this matter; that whatsoever they asked. in my name, either calling upon it, he being equally the object of prayer with the Father, or making mention of it, pleading the merits of his blood, righteousness, and sacrifice; whatever was according to the will of God, was for his glory, and their real good, he would do it for them, as well when absent from them, as present with them. If people show you theyre trying to get between you and Jesus [Almighty] Christ Who is Lord and God rose from the dead, get them out of your life. WAIT! When I cannot understand my Father’s leading, and it seems to be but hard and cruel fate, still I hear that gentle whisper ever pleading, God is working, and God is faithful — only wait. Wait like a waiter. Serve. Host. Be hospitable to Jesus. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it, said Jesus. Whatsoever ye … ask in my name—as Mediator. That will I do—as Head and Lord of the kingdom of God. This comprehensive promise is emphatically repeated. John 14: fourteen New American Standard Bible (NASB) 14 if you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. Fill your day with prayer. Look for stuff to pray about. Montana, who set the wrestling record in my high school and may still be set, said pray and waits for the answer. I agree. Whatever we ask in Christs name that shall be for our good and suitable to our state, he shall give it to us. To ask in Christs name, is to plead his merit and intercession, and to depend upon that plea. Often, walking, Im praying, praise Jesus, praise Jesus, praise Jesus, praise Jesus, praise Jesus, praise Jesus, and praise Jesus. The gift of the Spirit is a fruit of Christs mediation, bought by his merit, and received by his intercession. The word used here, signifies an advocate, counselor, monitor, and comforter. He would abide with the disciples to the end of time; his gifts and graces would encourage their hearts. The expressions used here and elsewhere, plainly denote a person, and the office itself includes all the Divine perfections. The gift of the Holy Ghost is bestowed upon the Disciples of Christ, and not on the world. This is the favor God bears to his chosen. As the source of holiness and happiness, the Holy Spirit will abide with every believer forever. Whatever you ask in my name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do. What man would dare to make such a promise? It will be noted, that in order to enjoy the fullness of these glorious promises we must, (1) Believe. They are limited thus in John 14: thirteen The Message (MSG) 11-14 Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can’t believe that, believe what you see—these works. The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do. . Without faith it is impossible to please God. (2) We must ask in his name, or, in dependence upon the merit and intercession of Christ. (3) As shown elsewhere, we must come with a spirit of complete submission to the Fathers will, feeling that his will is best, and saying in our hearts, Thy will be done Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. So He said to them, When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time. If we are together nothing is impossible. If we are divided all will fail. We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face...we must do that which we think we cannot. The ideals which have lighted my way and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been kindness, beauty, and truth. If ye shall ask me anything in my Name, etc., is, omitting the clause of the former utterance, a solemn repetition of the promise. The only condition being in my Name. Our Lord Christ foresaw that this article would go hard with human reason, and that it would be much assailed by the devil. What ye ask, says he, I will do. I am God, who may do and give all things. I put special emphasis on Christs own power and willingness to receive and answer prayer. Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved. The heart of the problem is a problem with the heart. Youre just a prayer away from a change of heart. Finding relief in your problem is fine, but it will not cure the problem. My environment can give me relief from sin and tension, only the Lord can cure it. You can manage your sin, but thats not repentance. If its sin, thats good news! Sin is the simplest thing in the world to deal with. Theres no human remedy for sin. Jesus wants to give you peace. You would think that everyone would leap at the chance to get rid of sin. Not so. They want relief not a cure. Your walk with God does not depend on people, places, things or events. You don’t have a marriage problem, you have a sin problem. I am a victim of my own behavior. Gods children have a limitless supply of the fruit of the Spirit. Biblical counseling is listening to a person long enough until you hear a violation of scripture.
