What’s empowering or educational about trucks dropping off corporate food donations at low-decile schools? Nobody wants to see kids go to school hungry but my food in schools bill will enable schools in poorer communities to run their own gardening and healthy eating programmes – skills that will last those children for life. It’s more educational, cheaper, more respectful, sustainable, and no child will go hungry. Will the government support it? Let’s see if their walk follows the talk.
