What’s happening to Our Mammals? To be honest, we don’t have - TopicsExpress

What’s happening to Our Mammals? To be honest, we don’t have enough details to be able to answer this question accurately. Mammals are difficult to record because they are rarely seen; we often need to use other clues, such as tracks or scats, to help confirm their presence in an area. Many threats endanger mammals in the modern world and CEDaR would like to find out what is happening to the populations of our furry friends. Where do they live? Are we doing enough to ensure they are healthy? Have they had to move because we are encroaching on their homes? Mammals can be a great indicator of the quality of natural habitats and biodiversity within Northern Ireland. With your help we can start to build a picture of what’s going on. And so we invite you to share your sightings with us on our new Online Mammal Recording Form, just in time for #nationalmammalweek. You will be able to see the various records as they appear on our interactive map and registering for Online Recording will allow you to store and view your own records whenever you like. Photographs are encouraged, but not essential as our Mammal Experts will be able to verify your data. www2.habitas.org.uk/records/mammals
