Wheat futures are trading higher this morning with front month KC leading the way higher, up 8 cents on the session. Ukraine/Russia tensions are also reportedly higher this morning. Trade ideas for the weekly Export Sales report from USDA are in the 200,000 to 500,000 MT range. In other words, they don’t think much happened last week. USDA put the actual figure at 403,600 MT, so it was on the higher end of trade expectations. The USDA projection for 14/15 US exports is off 4.72% from last year, but the total commitments as a % of that projection are currently at 45%, a couple points ahead of the five year average for this date. Last year they were at 50% by now.
