Whelp I am a HUGE Giants fan, and I know the season is over, but the bloggers still need something to write about so here comes the first week of, The New York Giants Are Officially Eliminated This Week If: ... they lose at San Diego AND the Cowboys win at Chicago AND the 49ers beat the Seahawks. A loss for the Giants would be their 8th and a win by the Cowboys would be their 8th, meaning the best the Giants could do is tie the Cowboys at 8-8 -- and the Cowboys clinched the tie-breaker by beating the Giants twice. And a win by the 49ers would be their 9th, which would take the wild-card out of play for an 8-loss Giants team. NOTE: The Giants conceivably still could beat the Eagles in a tie-breaker (based on common games), so a win by them would have no effect on the Giants playoff chances. Also note that in the event of a three-way tie with the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles, the Giants can not win.
