When A Person Does A Good Job, Then They Need Recognized. Arnold Knightly -- Editor of Pahrump Valley Times and The Mirror Although having been editor for just a few months, Ive been monitoring his activities from a readers perspective. Im not witnessing the liberal spin that the stories and coverage embraced in the past. I have had egg on my face more than once by having trusted the reporting of events by the PVT, and used the paper as a source in forming my opinion. I feared when the Mirror was taken over, that we would soon have a double dose of liberal press to deal with. Apparently, the lefty publishers have allowed him to be independent in his editorial oversight of the papers. I dont believe that has been the case in the past, and I was extremely disappointed when the reader comment option at the PVT was shut down. Im convinced it was a move to censor what was displayed in the publication. I felt Arnold taking a trip to the North county was a good move. Its a long drive up there and you cant get a true understanding of the county unless you wander up north for a peek, and engage the folks up there. The wife and I like to stop and get gas at that fuel stop outside Round Mountain.... and of course enjoy the best homemade sub sandwiches in the country there. So having the editor of the largest news publication in the county go up and check it out for himself told me that he was serious about becoming a rural. Actually the editor grew up in Clark county, when places like Boulder City, Henderson and North Las Vegas were tiny hamlets. His story of being accosted by BLM officers while dirt bike riding on public lands as a kid made me chuckle. Right now Im praising this editor and believe we just might have a keeper. Therefore a pat on the back was in my opinion justified. Good job Arnold. Dwight Lilly
