When Achieng talks, I listen. She is very bitter here and if this is what Governor Cyprian Awiti did to her, then Awiti is an evil man. Please share this...we must make our Governors accountable and our counties transparent. In the words of Achieng Odhiambo: CYPRIAN AWITI MUST BEHAVE! Allow me to address you as Hon Awiti though truth be told I know not what might still be honorable about you. Yes I have not forgotten you are the Governor of this beautiful county Homabay but I equally must express my utter disgust with you as a person who has decided to play patron-client politics and political cronyism with the lives of young people in Homabay County. As a young person who spent more than seven hours in the queue waiting to cast my vote that actually saw you become the governor, I was not motivated by anything else but purely by your campaign promises whose pillars was among others youth employment. You have decided to award your cronies with political positions in the county even when it is evident some of them are not worth it! Some by virtue of being girlfriends, some by virtue of being friends, relatives and the list is endless. Yes you might have the power and authority to dictate who gets what when and how as we all understand that’s all about politics, but do you honestly think that the young people also need an opportunity in the economy of our county??? As I write this piece I am equally hurt because I happen to be one sacrificial lamb that the ‘Honorable’ governor has yet again slaughtered her professional career at the altar of political cronyism. I applied for a job as a county assembly service board member, I was shortlisted and did an interview on the 23rd of August and I am happy that out of the 14 interviewees I performed best and was ranked first position, but because i did not know the powerful governor he decided to handpick a political reject who had vied for a political office and failed and also happens to be a sister to the health minister, but the wonder of it all this woman was rated number seven in the interview. I know I am neither the first nor the last , maybe next time it will be you or your sister, brother or friend. My question to the governor is FOR HOW LONG ARE YOU GOING TO MESS THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE??? This county belongs to us all.
