When Alvin Tan commented against our societal norms, Malaysians - TopicsExpress

When Alvin Tan commented against our societal norms, Malaysians were united in asking for him to be charged, and banished. He was charged. And he then banished himself to the USA. In the USA, freedom of speech is exercized at a much greater extend than Malaysia. You get in insult and disgrace George Washington, Bush, Obama without any repercussion. Thats their law and like Malaysia, it is a country that practices Rule of Law too. You can disagree and condemn his statement made in the USA, that would be your rights, practiced based on Malaysias normative. What I cannot understand, is those who challenged or asked him to come back and brave the charges against him in Malaysia standard. Two things. First, are you not among the first who asked him to be banished and had his citizenship revoked? Now that he has voluntarily give up his citizenship and exile / banish himself from Malaysia, you want him to come back again? Secondly, you want him to come back to face charges based on Malaysia norms and law that he refuses to submit to? Isnt that weird? Are we not the one who said that Kalau you Tak suka Malaysia you keluar? Now that he heeded your call and keluar, you want him back to face charges against him by a country he doesnt like and law he doesnt want to succumb to? Tell me now. Do you want him back or do you want him keluar And have citizenship stripped off? Choose one only okay. I choose the later as a Malaysian.
