When Barack Obama was elected President, I was hopeful he would - TopicsExpress

When Barack Obama was elected President, I was hopeful he would accomplish several key issues. He ran for President saying he would end the war in Iraq. The U S government is now back in Iraq bombing . I was hopeful that he would re-set the War Powers Act. This law constitutionally spells out that Congress must initiate a war by the U S Government. Over the years, various Presidents have ignored the War Powers Act and sent U S Military into many wars and fights without Congresss approval. When Congress has to vote for a war, the American peoples voices can be heard , because the House and senate members are elected by the people. That is what happened last year, when the U S Government wanted to bomb Syria. People contacted their representatives in congress and told them not to authorize that war. Obama backed off. A year later and much propaganda about ISIS, people are now wanting to bomb anyone they can find. Obama still is not asking Congress for authorization to start another war. I am disappointed and Obama is leaving things worse, because we dont know what the next President will do regarding starting wars.
