When Bobbie Eakes and I were discussing music for the 2014 Miss - TopicsExpress

When Bobbie Eakes and I were discussing music for the 2014 Miss Virginia Pageant, she casually mentioned some of the songs she and her sisters used to sing together. I said, All 5 of you sang together? I thought that was really, REALLY cool. But for her family, it was a normal thing to do. Anyway, when all was said and done, they hadnt performed together in quite a while, so I asked if they would like to perform in our pre-show before the Friday night prelim. Since they were going to attend the 70th anniversary of the Miss Georgia Pageant the weekend before Miss Virginia, it wasnt out of the realm of possibilities. Bobbie, being the stellar lady that she is, kindly agreed to ask each of them -- her own family -- if they would like to prepare and sing for us. These 5 beautiful ladies never thought twice, and I think I received an email in an hour or two with a resounding YES! In all of the years that Ive been working with nationally known entertainers as emcees or performers, nobody -- except Miss Bobbie -- was ever willing to even consider asking family members to join us. I think this tells you the kind of ladies the Eakes Sisters are: talented, kind, humble, generous, and so incredibly beautiful from the inside out. THANK YOU so much for giving our pageant such an awesome unique style of entertainment, and for allowing us to adopt you as our sisters. We all loved your performance, and cant thank you enough for sharing your gifts with us. You are very, very special people who truly are a gift to everyone you meet. THANK YOU SO MUCH! We love you. A special thanks to their parents, as well, because we all know that good people come from good people. As a father and a son, I totally respect and admire both of them for many different reasons. Mr. & Mrs. Eakes -- you are the BEST! Thank you for sharing your daughters with so many people. Your family has brought true joy to so many people, and were all truly grateful. — with Audrey Eakes and 5 others at Miss Virginia Pageant Fri. June 27 Roanoke Civic Center.
