When Boston was bombed, a weeping Obama told those behind the attack, We will get you. Within weeks, those who carried out the attacks and their associates were in jail. There was no PR or fake photos. It was serious business. After the Ferguson protests which followed the lack of indictment of officer Darren Wilson who had shot and killed a black teen, President Obama, today, spent the entire day meeting with his Cabinet, civil rights leaders and other officials to talk about the mistrust of police in communities of color. Obama and team are responding to the conflict and not just issuing press releases. The president will ask Congress for $263 million in part to equip local police with body cameras. Obama will not stop there. He will also meet elected officials, community and faith leaders, to discuss how communities and law enforcement can work together to build trust to strengthen neighborhoods across the country. What I have realized is that when Obama sets an agenda, every part of his team get around that agenda. There are no side shows. In Kenya, it is a different script. President Uhuru will speak on insecurity on the one hand, while on the other hand, his communication team will be busy talking about ODM, instead of emphasizing the presidents agenda and breaking it down for all and sundry.
