When Cecis Mother was alive every Christmas after we had partaken - TopicsExpress

When Cecis Mother was alive every Christmas after we had partaken of a wonderful meal and shred our love with each other by opening and exchanging gifts without fail she would always say Weve had a wonderful Christmas. You must know she said it with her Mississippi drawl. Every year since 2005 Ceci, Libba, or Lara, and now James will say what Dorothy used to say Weve had a wonderful Christmas. I know this coming week I will be asked probably fifty to a hundred times if I had a Merry Christmas. This year I want to scream at the top of my lungs that I had the most WONDERFUL, FANTASTIC, OUTSTANDING, EXCITING, SUPER, and LIFE CHANGING CHRISTMAS I HAVE EVER HAD, This Christmas throughout the season the message at my Church at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Memphis where Libba and James are members and in everything that I read and in a lot of things that I saw, PEACE was the underlying message. We are reminded daily of the unrest and violence and hatred in our world. At the Festival of Christmas Service at Emmanuel Kevin Presley and his choirs delivered a wonderful message in song and with the use of technology they were able to capture images and testimonies about Peace . At our Praise Services at Northside, Daphne Moses and Don Thrasher spoke about peace and tried to convey the message that in a world of unrest PEACE truly does begin with us. On January 1, 2015, I will celebrate five wonderful years of working at Lakeshore United Methodist Camp and Retreat Center. I love what I do and I love what God is doing at Lakeshore. I will admit when I started I had everything but PEACE in my heart. I thought that when I was a Junior in High School and I accepted the call to be an educator that I would teach or be in a school setting until they rolled me out and buried me six feet under. God had another plan. His plan was for me to work at Lakeshore. It has taken a lot of prayer and soul searching for me to get to the place where I am today. I am truly at Peace. Issues and situations that took place when I was an educator are not important. I value the work and the people that God allows me to come in contact with daily . I thank God for allowing me the opportunity to share our story about Lakeshore and to encourage others to give to help Lakeshore Grow. I am thankful that I can spread the word that Lakeshore is all about Offering ways for all to experience life, love, and the God of Grace.. I am thankful to God for this wonderful and eye opening Christmas. I did not find peace in the lovely gifts I received. I did not find it in the beautiful Christmas music or in the fantastic decorations. I found peace in my heart and I found it by reflecting back on the Nativity and the most wonderful gift that was given to us by God. I pray this Peace and understanding will last all year long and beyond. Merry, Merry, Merry, Christmas.
