When Darkness Befalls Leadership… Ernest and His Team Gone Insane My head hurts, my stomach gripes, and I feel nauseated when I think about it. Sierra Leone again!!!!!!!????? I am unable to place one and two together to see the reason for Ernest Koroma and his APC government deliberately playing with the security of that country. There are two old adages that I will base this piece. They are; “Madness does not govern a country; discussion does” and “An army of sheep led by a lion can defeat an army of lions led by a sheep”. We are part of Sierra Leone as he is part of us. This means we should take a very good care of our country and do everything in our prowess to make it peaceful and developed. I am saying this because it seems as if madness has befallen the present ruling government in Sierra Leone. The presence of one single man has turned the head of Ernest Bai Koroma, and his APC followers so much so that they cannot see anything in their activities other planning to either kill Maada Bio or jail him. This is pathetic!! A whole government forgetting its duty and concentrating on one single person that has proven to be so smart that any dirty move and plan falls in his hands even when it is being imagined. What a witty person Maada Bio must be? What a genuine Sierra Leonean God himself has decided to protect? What a man God is guiding and guarding? What a personality God has bestowed popularity upon? What a man God Himself is pleased? What a gentle man young people has fallen in love? I can’t comprehend the reason Ernest Bai Koroma and his government will create a fake coup d’état in Sierra Leone at this time. I have used my lenses to be able to see the reason they will take to arresting people that are officials and supporters of the opposition. What a retrogressive game? This should have been the term Ernest leaves an indelible mark in politics and development of Sierra Leone, but the darkness has befallen him. Trying to create confusion in that country will not leave any of behind and that is because we are Sierra Leone and Sierra Leone is us. Those who think they will create confusion and leave the country for the innocent people to suffer should also know that the world today will not allow them to stay in any part of the world in peace. The confusion that is being planned by the APC will only work if some of has not decided to be vigilant and sit on their tails. In politics, great followers seize the initiative but not allow the initiative to seize them. That is not happening in the APC and moreover, the natural condition of the APC, as far as ruling the country is concerned, is “blind support”. The days of leaders saying “Jump! Go kill! Jail him or Change his address! Beat Him! Burn his house! Beat his family” and supporters asking “When?” are over. Today’s leader desperately needs followers that bring fresh ideas not passive worker bees waiting to be told what to do. Great Political supporters say, “This is what I think we should do.” not “What do you want me to do?” The APC supporters are always not sharp enough to help their leaders in ruling the country; instead, they help them destroy it. Those who have advised Ernest Bai Koroma, falsely accusing people of mutiny, is an example of the kind of supporters I am mentioning here. What Ernest and his followers tend to forget is that being, a leader is like a borrowed garment, when it is time to return the garment it will be done either willingly or otherwise. I believe there are some APC strong members that are not happy with the way Ernest and his illiterate ministers are running the country. Having spoken about illiterate ministers, I will easily remind my readers about this pattern of rule and how it is common within the APC. APC is either infested with high class educationists as ministers and lead by an illiterate or illiterate ministers lead by some kind of graduate that is paranoiac of educated people. That is the reason APC governance will always be a vindictive and failed one. The leadership is always inadequate of qualities that will make him/her a good and development oriented. The other thing Ernest has lost his center on, is that threats, insults, intimidations, brutality and so on will never again rule Sierra Leone. To lead is not to run roughshod over people but to caress and take care of them like family members. This is not happening in this Ernest Koroma’s rule. Instead, Ernest is bent on looking for trouble in the country by creating daylight lies on innocent people. My Malawian friend once told me that even the fiercest leader in the world is overcome by sleep. I have been thinking about what my friend told and have decided to say it to Ernest Koroma. Whatever Ernest Koroma may do to the people Sierra Leone, he will at the end leave the post of Presidency and a new person take over. Ernest thinks he has gotten the best team near him right now. That is the reason he is listening to what they say and doing just the wrong things to the country and its people. He lives with people that are just interested in making money from whatever connection they would have got with government. People whose background has been blotted with all kinds of evil actions, presently involved in nothing less than trafficking and whose future cannot not be anything other than long jail terms. This is the reason Ernest Koroma should have made himself a leader of difference than making empty allegations on people. The last time I wrote about this kind of issue, I told my readers that Ernest Koroma is not a leader and has not gotten the requisite qualities that will prompt peace, development, tranquility, fraternity, tolerance and freedom of speech. Before he leaves he will take Sierra Leone to grave. Before I end up this piece, I will quote one of the writers for Ernest Bai Koroma in a recent article. He is Mohamed One Drop Sankoh. Here is what he wrote “One of the cardinal weaknesses of President Ernest Bai Koroma is his desire to please everyone but in the process he seems not to be pleasing anyone, especially the bulk of those in his ruling All People’s Congress who hold both the knife and yam—to borrow the phrase of the late Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe”. For me, this is a clear indication that close allies of Ernest Bai Koroma are coming to realize that he is not a good leader for Sierra Leone. Many of such writers are eating their words or can it be their writing(s) today. I will leave it here but I promise to continue reading Mohamed One Drop Sankoh’s piece and will make my analyses later. It will be a sentence per sentence analyses. Watch out for that one.
