When Delta State governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, came up with the Delta Beyond Oil initiative, to prepare the oil-rich state for life outside crude oil, little did he know that it would give him national and global recognition. Since becoming the governor of the oil rich Delta State, medical-doctorturned- politician, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has no doubt been confronted with a great deal of challenges. Among such challenges is how to use the limited revenue accruing to the state to meet the seemingly unlimited needs of people of the state. The Uduaghan administration has however been able to surmount a great deal of these challenges by placing more emphasis on social service delivery and other programmes that impact directly on human capital development as against projects that easily catch the attention of the people and publicity stunts.
