When Dr Gorg Borg Olivier had signed the Refugee Convention in - TopicsExpress

When Dr Gorg Borg Olivier had signed the Refugee Convention in 1971 he had made reservations that Malta would only accept a small number of REFUGEES (and not illegal immigrants) the number to be decided by MALTA, and only from European Countries which he could do in terms of Article 42 (reservations). The EU forced Dr Eddie Fenech Adami to renounce to these reservations and sign the EU Dublin II Convention because they knew that he wanted to make Malta their colony at all costs. However, if we have politicians with the proverbial balls (which momentarily we do not), they could denounce the Refugee Convention which Malta can do in terms of Article 44 (denunciation) i. Any Contracting State may denounce this Convention at any time by a notification addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations
