When God made the first man He said it is not good for man to be alone. And so He made the first woman. She was to be a help-mate to him and he would be a provider for her and protect her and defend her. Our world is quite different from that time but the basics remain the same. My wife is a help-mate to me. This is being played out every day now as we endure my cancer and the treatment I under go. She has brought me food and beverages in bed, she has held me as I felt the cramping in my gut and wiped cold sweat from my head. She has left work for my needs with little notice (and consequence, thank you TGW). She has stopped mid project to go to the pharmacy to buy and bring home medication. And she has taken the time to bathe me when my strength failed me to the point I could not hold a wash rag. I married my best friend 16 and a half years ago. I was in love with her then and even more deeply so now. She has put up with a lot out of me. I love to pester her and be her main annoyance. She has put aside anger at my recklessness, my selfishness, my temper, and so many other nesses I forget what they all are nor am I able to keep count. And I am doubly glad the she keeps no count either. I maintain few constants in my life. My wife however is well far above and beyond that status. She is no different than my heart.
