When HIRING a PROFESSIONAL photographer, DEFINITELY ask to see - TopicsExpress

When HIRING a PROFESSIONAL photographer, DEFINITELY ask to see their PRINTED work. Especially if you plan on PRINTING the photos you receive. Heres why… **Internet Quality** images are small in resolution and compact. Reducing the size of digital images for the Interenet compresses the flaws, hides color-banding, conceals out-of-focus areas where you should see focus (eyes), and masks important details we typically see in a printed image. When you view these on smaller devices (cell phones).. the deception is even greater. Its one of the reasons why Instagram images look awesome on your cell phone vs. viewing those same images on a computer. Printed Photos WILL reveal Destructive Photo-Retouching Methods (Blurring / Over-Softened skin texture) favored by Amateurs and areas that were recovered from darkness due to poor lighting skills. Image Noise and Pixelation also become very noticeable with printed photos. If you are going to pay the PROFESSIONAL Photographer his/her rates, they should be more than eager to show you their printed product in grand detail. You will also see first hand the ratio of Photography Skill vs. Photoshop Embellishments. The students I mentor/train, have been instructed to print their images larger than normal to show their clients their skills to distinguish themselves from the masses who call themselves Professional. My own personal portfolios are all printed at 12x18 for this purpose. .
