When I-84 was constructed in the 1960s, engineers were focused on keeping the cars migrating, not the salmon. Five decades later, after years of planning and partnerships, EMSWCD grantee Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership is correcting this omission by restoring salmon habitat. We lent our support to this project by granting $135,000 of PIC funds over two grant cycles and are excited to see this project underway.
