When I Fall In Love - Featuring Chantel Hilton (vocals) and Quinn Wade on Sax. youtu.be/Klho7ES9yu0 The story behind the production of this video: This is a love story...one of music, mutual respect, and something that only music can say. It is the story of how we met, connected on a level only the notes can understand, and how we were led to perform this song together. Quinn is a saxophone player who busks on the streets of Edmonton. He and Chantel met over three years ago on a street corner in winter, when she heard Little Brown Jug. On a cold wintery day, Chantel found herself singing along and Quinn was blown away by her voice and her personality. From there the story progressed to a deep mutual respect and a kind of love that only exists when the notes come together and the musical passion is ignited. Soon, Chantel and Quinn were practicing along with another friend Randy Shuttleworth and playing a small volunteer venue. By August, Chantel and Quinn were performing at the Edmonton Fringe Festival, eating breakfast at the greasy spoon, and having the time of their lives enjoying each others company and just being in the moment. Time passed and more great times came along until one August day, when Quinn was struck with an illness that took his ability to play away. Both of us were devastated by this, and together, we worked on getting the music back. Through it all, Chantel was there, crying with him when his brain could no longer understand notes, and his body refused to function. Laughing with him, and keeping his sense of humour going, and together we shared the frustrations and heartaches of learning that the medical profession believed he would never speak nor play music again, but that prognosis was not to be. By December, Quinn had relearned a few songs with the inspiration and encouragement of Chantel and of Randy, neither of whom ever gave up, and never let Quinn give in. While Quinn recovered, he learned to paint, and with the help of Randy, collected items to paint, thinking he would need a new career. Still, there was something missing. The music wasnt there anymore. Determined to learn to play again, Quinn figured out that the issue was in connecting note names to the symbols that are notes. It occurred to him that if he changed the symbols, it just might work. December 24th, Quinn had a surprise for Chantel and landed on a favorite corner across from Chantels home where he played a few tunes and both of us got the best gift anyone could ever imagine. We were truly overwhelmed and overjoyed that we may once again create music together. Now that you know the love story of music we share with you, we hope you enjoy the first of many more stories to play and sing.
