When I celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri at the Masjid Petempatan - TopicsExpress

When I celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri at the Masjid Petempatan Melayu Sembawang, our kampung mosque at Sembawang, the mosque leaders expressed their wishes that the mosque would remain for many more years to serve their congregants. In reply, I said that I would do my best to “protect” the mosque. Last night, Minister Yaacob Ibrahim announced the good news. MUIS has been working with MND and URA on long-term mosque planning. They have decided that longer term leases will be given to three mosques, including our Sembawang Kampung Mosque. The mosque is currently on 3-year TOL (Temporary Occupation License). This is really good news for the mosque and our Muslim friends in the north. With the certainty of a longer term lease, they can now upgrade the mosque to house better facilities, and also to accommodate more congregants. Together with the construction of a new mosque in Admiralty, near Ace-the-Place CC and a future Thomson Line MRT station, last night’s announcement adds to a list of truly wonderful news for our Muslim residents!
