When I closed on my townhouse in 2007 I could not believe it. I had lived for 16 years in a tiny, shitty, grubby, spider-infested 1940s-era basement apartment down by the creek on 4th Street in Santa Rosa. I was not used to living in a clean, decent, relatively spacious abode. I kept having this feeling that at any minute my new home would be taken away from me on some obscure technicality or for some other capricious reason. I have heard that other new homeowners get this same feeling--a feeling of disbelief that they are now a homeowner, commingled with the sense that their new home will be suddenly taken away from them. I still cannot fully believe I am here. Are you familiar with this phenomenon? Please comment.
