When I contemplate the word hero I am reminded of my fathers comments about the Doolittle raid on Tokyo in the spring of 1942. Dad was a bombardier/navigator in a B-25. When he heard they had flown B-25s off of an aircraft carrier he couldnt believe it. The very idea of flying medium bombers off of an aircraft carrier (no catapult system in those days) was beyond imagination for most folks. Dad went on to say that the very act of bombing Japan only a few months after Pearl Harbor was much needed medicine for the American people. When you think about the word hero, these are the guys you are thinking of....
