When I first saw posts indicating that John had passed, I hoped it was some kind of odd promo for new music. It was one of those realities no one wants to accept, that a genuinely good person is gone way too soon. I was fortunate enough to get to know John from the early dance parties and hip hop showcases at The Stanhope House, and he was easily one of those people you were always happy to see. You knew you were gonna laugh and have a good time. He also had this beautiful ability to give you positive encouragement even when you didnt think you needed it. While this is certainly a loss for humanity, I know that if everyone who had the pleasure of knowing John made the effort to live by his example the world would be a better place. I think the best way to honor John is to go forward with the intention to do work, live each day like its our birthday, and treat every person we meet as though theyre our brother or friend. I dont have to say rest in peace because we all know you are. After all, thats what you were all about: peace. Nothing but respect. Sad time for Team Good, but your energy will always be with us.
