When I first started writing (this was...2001 (?!?!)), the ONLY place I hung out to learn or talk about writing was the Compuserve Books and Writers forum. There, Id slap up my untried scenes for critique. One woman, who was working on her own book, would give the most thoughtful, clear, concise feedback --not just to me, but to everyone-- written in such away that it seemed like an epiphany. She absolutely influenced the way I thought about words, the way I approached my characters, and the art of going into deep into their point of view. I consider her thoughts on writing as part of my education, and those years as one, big master-class on the craft of writing. Because this woman was, and is, a master craftsman. Back then, I decided that, if she didnt get published, there was something seriously wrong with the world. Luckily her book was published. And the romance community was treated to her stories. That authors name is Joanna Bourne. Reading Jos books is like falling into another world. They are rich, layered, chocolate cakes of decadent goodness. And her newest book, Rogue Spy, is out right now. I dont know about you, but I know what *I* am going to read tonight. :)
