When I left home and ended up in Toledo Ohio everyone talked about my accent and I thought they sounded funny.After a while I got used to hearing theirs and it became the norm. When I returned to WV it took me a while to understand some of the people here because then It was really an accent to me. After a while then WVs accent became the norm again. While working with my grand daughter on her spelling words --I would say it and she would spell it. Sometimes she would spell it wrong and come to find out the problem wasnt with her it was my accent getting in the way. She had spelled things the way I pronounced them!!!!! I think maybe the older a person is the thicker the accent becomes to younger ears. Needless to say I really have to pay attention or her grades are going to be my fault! LOL
