When I lived in Daytona, I worked at a little AM radio station, I produced commercials for them. Id use the few voices I could do, etc, to change things up a bit. (Sean Connery for Dinner & Tournament, Bill & Ted for the local record store) Some local faith healer/scammer paid for the early Sunday slot, hed produce an hours worth of a crappy Christian show, and send it in. Every Sunday morning at 7, it went on. It was just him and his brother, acting like different people, pretending to be those who had written them, callers, they would invite to come on, hed heal them and the sound track of an audience was edited in, gasping, applauding. It literally had sound effects, demons voices, the works. It reminded me of that radio show where the host pretended to be the caller and would say crazy stuff to get other folks calling in pissed off. Old women would call us crying, so happy we aired that days episode, what was the address to send money, again? Something had happened to them, I dont think legally, but they were unable to cut a new tape. They paid for a full year, in advance, by the time I left, we had been playing the last tape they sent for about 2 months. Over and over and over again. Still, people called in, wanting to know where to send a check.. No clue whatever happened. I made $4.25 an hour, I didnt stay long.
