When I lived on Okinawa, I had a bunch of these bats in the neighborhood. They would roost in a gum tree starting at dawn...they would swoop into the tree, some not landing right and tumbling down thru the branches, sometimes right down to the ground. And theyd squawk and squeek until, suddenly, they would all go quiet. You could go up to the tree and see them sleeping upside down. During a typhoon, my neighbor and I saw a single bat clinging to a branch all night until the morning when the winds calmed down. We couldnt figure out why shed stayed. But then we saw her unfurl her wings, and out climbed a tiny baby. It was truly amazing. I hope Alice recouperates and is able to return to the wild. She has a very sweet face!
