When I moved here about five years ago, I didnt know how I would - TopicsExpress

When I moved here about five years ago, I didnt know how I would get by without all of my loved ones, friends, and neighbors from the small town in which I was born and raised, and loved almost more than anything. I was so blessed with small town values, and neighbors that became like family, and love of that land and place. When life twisted and turned as it does, I relocated to Lafayette. We had 90+ mph winds come down our street yesterday. A 20 foot pine was leveled to the ground, root and all, some of the oldest trees in the area, down. Houses, awnings, gutters, roofs, yards, and fences destroyed- on both sides of us, and directly across the street. The beauty of it? All of the people went out after we were safe to come up from our basements, and first cleared the streets of limbs and debris for others trying to get home to their loved ones, and then went to work on each others lawn. Helping one another, and making sure everyone was safe. Tonight we are in a motel, as over 24 hours have gone by without electricity. We have one another, we are all safe, and we were reminded that no matter where you live, you can be a good neighbor, and help one another out, and we are so blessed. Tonight I am grateful that my family is safe, and this small town girl learned a big lesson. Love to all.
