When I moved out to Airdrie, Alberta to open a martial arts school in Calgary, I drove from Toronto. I bought a station wagon from a fellow martial arts friends brother to haul a trailer full of crap (with the exception of my motorcycle). After I made my way up to Northern Ontario the car broke down and could only go 70km an hour from there on. Needless to say...it was a long trip. What made it better was that I was 21 and was in no hurry, I loved the scenery. I had never been across Canada before so it was new to me plus I came prepared. I had music cassettes (I know, really dating myself here) of Pink Floyd, Cat Stevens and John Cougar Mellencamp as well as the Lord of Rings trilogy series that I read in the evenings. I loved my music and it made for an enjoyable slow trip west. John Mellencamp Ive alway appreciated for his passion about music, his homeland and the everyday, hard working, typical person. Here he is in concert with a lot of that passion and Kid Rock joins him near the end. I guess I was feeling a little reminiscent and wanted to share it with you. Enjoy. P.S. I know where my friend Steve Sonny B. Mick) got his chewing gum while singing talent now. Haha.
