When I participate in conventions, albeit that it is - TopicsExpress

When I participate in conventions, albeit that it is professional-grade, managerial / volunteer coordinating/ event coordinating work, I am aware that it is very emblematic of privilege. So, I always incorporate into heading to the conventions to set out free food, clothes, or other items of value for people who are homeless and/or food-insecure, to remind myself to balance out anything I do that is as self-indulgent and privilege as fandom involvement with direct acts of generosity and compassion. There is presently a big bag of food for free outside my house. If in need of such, PM me for my address. Think of all the good if all of us in fandom were to do this. Think of all the momentum we can harness when we use our volunteer organizing and event organizing for politically empowering and humanitarian actions. This is the vast benefit of participating in Random Acts, E4K, and G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. Supernatural fans, and fans of acts of compassion, if coming to Official Newcon PDX Group, hop by Jackson Room, tomorrow, DoubleTree Lloyd Center, 11am-noon, for our Supernatural/Random Acts/GISHWHES meetup, and share your favorite moments of abnosomeness, random acts of kindness, enduring for kindness, as well as favorite scenes!
