When I posted that I was going to the Saskatoon powwow, Valerie Tootoosis Bull responded that she was glad and asked if I could photograph Walter Bulls special. I was so honored to be asked and Ive always been treated with so much respect and friendship by Walter and his family in all the years I have been photographing powwows...... going back to 1978. Lorna Arcands post best describes the man, the legend, Walter Bull. Walter Bull is a living legend in the pow wow circle, he taught our children many good things. Walter has always treated me and my family with gentle caring and mutual respect. Happy to shake his hand again. Thank you to his family for the invitation to attend. Fitting that another living legend Kevin Hewehe received a horse in the dance special. I dont say champion because it was a blessing for all of us to experience the dances of each and every traditional dancer on the floor. Champions ALL! An honour to Walter Bull and his pow wow legacy, his family. Thank you for the beautiful song and dance you all have shared with us. We must make sure we honour and respect the gift by sharing with our children in a good way. Proud Cree moment in time. hai hai On of the announcers mentioned that it is best to honor people while they are still alive and not after they have gone to the spirit world. I agree......
