When I run for conditioning or cardio I prefer to do it outside. I take my dogs with me and I run trails. It gives me time to think and isnt boring, which I typically associate with running on a treadmill. However for me the treadmill has a purpose. Its great for HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Hoping on a moving treadmill and sprinting for a short amount of time and hoping off and resting for a short amount of time has been much more effective for me in cutting fat and increasing my conditioning than doing a steady run.
