When I served as an Assistant Principal at the Jr. High, I learned - TopicsExpress

When I served as an Assistant Principal at the Jr. High, I learned a lot. It was a different world from a fifth grade classroom for me. If there was one thing I learned from my two years there it was to KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT ( Just because I learned it doesnt mean I still dont occasionally forget). One day as I holding down the office, the parent of one of my frequent office visitors came to get a copy of an item in his record folder. I nicely told her that I would be glad to get it for her. I went into the records room & proceeded to pull the info she desired. The office aid was there & asked me what I needed. I told her, Ive got to get something for Joe Smiths mother. You know hes that crazy kid thats always up here in the office. As I was finishing up my statement, I looked up from the cabinet drawer to see Joe Smiths mother standing in the door way. I had not noticed that she had followed me back from the office front. I wanted to run, but she had me blocked. She just stood there with a smirk on her face. I did the only thing I could do at the time. I ignored her. I finished getting the info for her & politely gave it to her. She was nice & thanked me for it. From that day forward she would address herself to me as, Im the mother of the crazy boy. Words cannot describe how I felt, but more importantly I learned a valuable lesson. We may not feel it, but we are powerful. We may not carry money or valuables on us at all times, but we do have WORDS. When we use them to lift up others we are enriching others, but when we speak negative words about them we are wounding them. We hold the keys of Blessing & Cursing, Life & Death all in our tongues. Whether in their presence or not, when we speak Blessings upon others, Blessings will be upon us also.
