When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. II Chronicles 7:13-14 God spoke these words to Solomon. God speaks these words to us. We live in a sinful world. Our profession places us where we are able to see what humanity does to humanity. Many times, we get caught up in the sinfulness ourselves. We need to hear these words from the Lord. We need to remind others that we should humble ourselves, pray, seek God and turn from our wicked ways. God has said that our sins will be forgiven. Today, reflect on places in your life where you need to pray, humble yourself, and seek God’s face for forgiveness. God, Our Source and End, we give you thanks for sparing us. We are people who call on your name. Be with us as we humble ourselves before you. We pray that we may have our sins forgiven by you. Help us to turn from our wicked ways. Amen.
