When I started doing nightlife promotions ELEVEN years ago this week, house music was listened to by the minority and usually only because someone had a European friend who introduced them to it. There was no Facebook, no Twitter, no Instagram. The closest thing to social media was AOL Instant Messenger. You had to physically engage people in person. Cell phones were used to make calls, sometimes text, but always to play a game called snake. I had physical flyers and VIP cards to promote parties that mostly served to annoy people. Getting on a guest list meant you had to actually know somebody cool and be somewhat cool yourself. In other words, I didnt have much to make things happen, just a dream. And sometimes, sometimes a dream is all you need.
