When I tell people I am pursuing a degree in machine learning, I - TopicsExpress

When I tell people I am pursuing a degree in machine learning, I get a lot of blank looks. Essentially, this video outlines what it is and how this field will change things. The video is very sobering and worth the watch. Technological advancement is exponential so the speed that things change will naturally increase over time. In the past, many advancements havent made a big impact on graduates employability within their work lifespan. This may no longer be the case. It is imperative for todays youth to be prudent about career choices as many occupations may not exist in the near future. With the possibility of the service industry disappearing entirely, those that lose employment may not be able to find any other jobs without re-education. Oxford University recently published a study that predicts that 47% of current occupations will be obsolete by 2033. It is clear that without substantial changes to the modern economic model/structure, it is unlikely we will be able to employ everyone in the not-so-far-off future. A little food for thought.
