When I told Terry that I liked his even, distinctive handwriting, he told me that he likes to draw. Been drawing since he was a kid. Its soothing to have something to do - something to pass the time of day. I think Im pretty good. At the end of every day, I look at what I drew, at what I can draw better tomorrow. Then I put my drawings away. No, Terry doesnt put them on his walls. He stacks them in categories, and keeps them neatly arranged in a cabinet. Terry loves his apartment at Mary Walker Towers. He was the first one to live there after it was remodeled. He sweeps and mops every day. Im proud of my place. I love it, and I keep it clean. Terry played sports as a young man. Two years ago, he was involved in an accident that crushed his left shoulder, the same one that he had badly damaged in his youth. He kept working, but kept getting pushed out of the minimum wage, physical labor jobs that he had sustained himself on. I couldnt keep up after I busted my shoulder. Hes filed for disability and has no income now other than $189 in Food Stamps. Terry couldnt pay his $70 rent - on that apartment that he loves - so he turned to MetMin for the first time. No, he didnt want his picture made, but he said hed bring me one of his drawings. Terry never married, has no kids, and no family left. I thanked this gentle man for talking with me. I want to tell you one thing: no matter what you do, leave God in everything you do. Thats how I make it. Im glad I was able to help you out. Usually, Im not this talkative.
