When I told a friend of mine that I was volunteering to clean up - TopicsExpress

When I told a friend of mine that I was volunteering to clean up trash along Castle Rock’s streets in an act of love and faith, he told me that such work was beneath me, that I was not acting to achieve my full capacity – why would a man who could do so much more than pick up trash choose to do so? He encouraged me, use my talents to the utmost. Yet – if cleaning up the trash was only for men of lesser ability, why then are there so few men cleaning up the trash? Cleaning up trash does not demean a man, but is actually one of the highest callings of man, and the mark of a man of great capacity. At the end of a long work day, before the boss pays out, many workers who have finished their jobs will linger about and idle. I have never been such a man. I have always busied myself. There are always tools to sharpen, and things to tidy up – sharp tools and a tidy barn make the work easier the next day. If you find yourself idling, sharpen the tools: now is the time to grow yourself stronger in mind and body; prepare yourself for the next day’s work. We must keep ourselves fit for work. Eat healthy food grown by your neighbors, exercise regularly and strenuously. Visit your library and become well read, proficient in the arts and sciences, mathematics and logic. Then look about and tidy up your heart so that you need not stumble and trip as you work tomorrow. Dare to love – love truly and wholly, and universally. Dream, and love; take tremendous and purposeful joy in life, and reject all and every fear and doubt. And then, if you still find yourself idling, waiting for your wage, with the tools sharp enough and the barn tidied, help me clean up the trash. Call 720-515-6397, message or email me.
