When I visited one of my 5 nursing homes last week I told the lovely frog lady who I hadnt met in one of my previous visits, about my very first success story as a newly elected MP. I didnt even have an office when a frantic volunteer from Karawatha Forest Protection Society called me about 3 threatened species of ph sensitive little frogs than were in danger of extinction if the potable water from pipes that go through the forest was emptied onto their habitat. Bernice and I worked together to convince link water to find another location and they did. I even shared the story in my maiden speech and now I am known for my love of nature and animals. I tried very hard for 3 months to get KFPS to apply for a $100,000 environmental grant last year but unfortunately they declined citing they did not have enough time, even though I said i would get a grant writer to help them. A real shame. Even Minister Powell was disapointed. If you have an environmental project in Stretton let me know so I can go in to bat for you in the next round - if Im re elected of course.
