When I voice an opinion, I am not doing so for affirmation to solidify my thoughts on the matter. They were carefully weighed out and decided prior to voicing it. I will never expect everyone to agree. When I disagree about a subject, I will never be threatened by the people who express a difference of opinion. I will always welcome an articulate discussion about the differences and I have at times, been compelled to change my position because someone made an intelligent and compelling argument with a perspective I had not considered. (**Keeping in mind the entire time, that I have no illusion that the general public does, or should, give a rats ass about my opinion**). I engage in healthy debate. I enjoy it. I wont beg anyone to agree with me or affirm me because neither that presence, nor absence qualifies my words. In my opinion, to be feared are actually those who agree with you to your face and change their position to suit their audience. I find no value in false agreement for pacification, but rather find it more destructive to the quality of relationships.
