When I was 12, our youth group in Cape Town was praying for Mozambique. Jesus gave me a picture of the country being like a dry piece of wood. It was dry from the ravages of war and poverty, but I felt God saying it was going to be burned up in the fire of revival. I didnt know it at the time, but a couple by the name of Rolland and Heidi Baker responded at about that same time to Jesuss call to serve the poorest of the poor in Mozambique. I read about their experiences eleven years later while serving in India in 2007. Revival fire had indeed spread as Rolland, Heidi and so many others said yes to Jesus again and again in the midst of extreme circumstances. Thousands of churches had been planted, many amazing miracles had been witnessed and hundreds of orphans had found a home. Then in 2008 I met my friend Will who had trained at the Iris missions school in Mozambique with the Bakers. Him and his friends from Knoxville, Tennessee had been so impacted by their time there that they bought a house in Knoxville and kept the fire of revival burning through community, worship and recording music. Jesus made a way for me to move to Knoxville that year and I got to be part of an amazing community and make incredible friends.
