When I was 12 years or older growing up in Athens, I had a couple - TopicsExpress

When I was 12 years or older growing up in Athens, I had a couple of neat jobs. 1.-I sold Whites Cloverine Salve door-to-door. The salve was in flat tins and they were shipped in a cardboard tube. Inside the tube were nature scenes suitable for framing. You would work toward achieving a prize from a catalog. I was able to earn a very cheap rod and reel set. The salve was good for a variety of things, mostly dry skin, etc. In fact, I looked it up and it is still sold today and ordered a tin for my wife. We are waiting on it to arrive. 2. I sold the Grit Newspaper in my neighborhood. I am not sure the Grit Newspaper still exists. If it does, with modern reporting technology, its news would have to be more timely than it was back in the day. The Grit carried a lot of good human interest stories. This was before I had routes 2 and 14 for the Athens Banner Herald. What jobs did you have when you were growing up in Athens?
