When I was 15 years old, my mom took me to this huge piano - TopicsExpress

When I was 15 years old, my mom took me to this huge piano warehouse that she had discovered in Tulsa, about 100 miles from home. I walked through that place, playing lots of different pianos, until I found THE ONE. It was a Mason Hamlin 7 foot grand and it was the most beautiful and powerful instrument I had ever heard or played. I sat down at that piano and played it for at least an hour or two. My mom, in the meantime, was talking to a salesman. She made friends with people everywhere she went and would just sit and talk forever so this was nothing new to me. I didnt care, I just wanted to play that piano. When my mom finally came to get me, she pointed to a sold sign that had been on the piano the whole time. Too bad this ones sold, She said. And we went home. Friday evening came along and I asked my mom to please let me sleep in. The next morning she woke me up, probably around 830 or 9. I was so teenage pissy as you can imagine. I huffed into the kitchen and ate breakfast, complaining the whole time. My family was all giggling at me, which made it worse. I thought they were laughing at me because she made me get up. I couldnt believe she would do something like that, after I asked her if I could please sleep late. I stood up from the table and turned around to stomp back to my bedroom, and there was that piano sitting in my living room there right behind me that whole time. She had gone to that store before me, picked it out &bought it. And it was the same one I picked! I have no idea how she was able to contain that secret. . . No wonder she was so excited to wake me up! This story still makes me cry. P.S. Now that piano lives at Sylvia H Gouldens house.
