When I was a Jehovahs Witnesses way back in the days of yester-year and so forth, my biggest pet peeve was people who didnt even know their own religions doctrine. They were raised up in it so theyre raising their kids in it and so forth. It really really irked me. Because I would say, Oh as a Catholic then... I would come up with some conversation piece to keep the talking going, and they would say Oh, No. I Dont believe that. And then I mentioned 3 or 4 other things and as it turns out they dont agree with a damn thing the Catholic church teaches or preaches. But yet, theyre Catholics. Instead of feeling pity or whatever like we were supposed to, it only filled me with a burning hatred because now I know that in most religions about 90% of their followers know nothing of what they are following. Yet they dare tell me Im wrong with righteous indignation? I know their religion backwards and forwards, I have to know it... I HAD to know. I couldnt be caught off guard, or under-equipped for any unforeseeable circumstances. But it was all a waste because nobody KNEW what they believed until someone challenged it. And I find that the case with most non-religious topics as well. Im not saying everybody needs to be well versed in every conceivable topic, no. I for one am not the brightest when it comes to specifics about World Politics. But I believe... that if youre going to BELIEVE something you need to know WHY you believe it without question and you NEED to be able to argue against all other options and if you CANT do that ... than your Opinion is wrong... regardless of what that opinion is. Im not the brightest. Nor am I even in the top 10 percentile of smartest, no doubt. But dammit... I believe my opinions with conviction because Ive researched and learnt all I could about them. And you should be able to say the same. And dont brag about your ignorance. Igorance isnt cool, or funny, or hip. Its stupid. Meh, I dont care. I just float through life because shit doesnt affect me your apathy is disgusting, your ignorance is unappealing and I wont tolerate it.
